President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev took part in a solemn ceremony of the OJSC TANECO Complex Phas

On October 26, 2010, Dmitry Medvedev started up personally the first process unit of the OJSC TANECO Refining and Petrochemical Complex where the functions of a General Designer are performed by OAO VNIPIneft. In the ceremony of the start-up the following officials took part: Deputy Chairman of the RF Government I.V. Sechin, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation S.I. Shmatko, President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov, General Director of OAO TATNEFT Sh.F. Takhautdinov, General Director of OJSC TANECO Kh.A. Bagmanov, General Director of OAO VNIPIneft V.M. Kapustin, etc. The Head of State pushed a Start button on a display and crude oil processing started.

The Phase I includes process units for crude distillation of 7 MTA capacity and a naphtha stabilization unit, a sulfur plant and a visbreaker. It is designed to produce straight-run naphtha, hydrocarbon gas, furnace oil, fuel oil, kerosene and diesel cuts, pelletized sulfur, and vacuum residue.

General Director of OJSC TANECO Kh.A. Bagmanov noted that the Russian content during the Complex construction accounts for 70% of the total volume of equipment and material supply.

The completion of such a large-scale project will permit to achieve a 97% crude oil conversion level against average 73% in Russia.

Medvedev congratulated top management and employees of the Company on account of the start of operation and termed the start-up of the first process unit a “big event’ especially in view of the fact that the construction was completed within a record-breaking period of three years in the complicated crisis situation.

‘Well done’, concluded the President expressing his confidence that the Company would continue to show ‘equally high work pace and quality’ also in the future.
