Meeting in Nizhnekamsk

November 17, 2009. The meeting on measures aimed at the development of petrochemical and gas chemical industries in Russia under the leadership of the Chairman of the RF Government V.V. Putin is held in Nizhnekamsk.

The meeting is attended by the Deputy Chairman of  the RF Government I.I. Sechin, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation S.I. Shmatko, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District G.A. Rapota, the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan M.G. Rakhimov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan M. Sh. Shaimiyev, governors of the Samara, Orenburg and Nizhny Novgorod regions, heads of oil and oil&gas chemical plants, including OAO VNIPIneft General Director V.M. Kapustin.

Measures aimed at the development of petrochemical and gas chemical industries are discussed during the meeting. As a result, the main tasks of petrochemical industry are formulated, namely, improvement of a conversion level and complexity of gas and petrochemical feedstock; construction of new petrochemical complexes with maximum use of the existing infrastructure; protection of Russian gas and petrochemical producers in external markets; development of domestic technologies for the gas chemical and petrochemical sector.

During the meeting V.V. Putin notes that, despite of the global financial and economic crisis, major investment projects are under implementation in Tatarstan, such as the TANECO Project.

“It is an encouraging phenomenon that Tatneft continue to implement the TANECO Project against reduction in global crude oil prices, - adds Mintimer Shaimiyev, - The Investment Fund of Russia finances infrastructure construction within the frames of the Project. In future the complex will process 7 million t of crude oil annually.
